Thiruvananthapuram: Following more than a month of technical repairs, a British F-35B stealth fighter jet will finally take off today after making an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on June 14. A mechanical issue had caused the state-of-the-art aircraft, which was worth more than $110 million, to be grounded.
According to an airport official, the plane has been refuelled, moved out of the hangar, and is now parked in the airport's parking bay, prepared for takeoff.
The Royal Navy aircraft was a member of the UK's Carrier Strike Group on board the HMS Prince of Wales. Citing low fuel and unfavourable weather, it was forced to land in Kerala during a routine flight.
